We welcomed a new year of podcasts with guest, Lee Huffman, host and founder of the We Travel There website and podcast, Lee also manages his other brand, where he writes about all things travel related. . Lee is an avid traveller, family man and lover of using points to get the most out of your travel.

Next up was our lovely guest, Veronica Stoddart, renowned travel writer and former Travel Editor of USA TODAY, Veronica has visited more than 100 countries, reporting from many of them, and lived in Colombia and Niger. Along the way, Veronica has “hunted” alligators in the Amazon, slept in a cave in Greece, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, learned to cook from a master chef in Tuscany, camped out in Antarctica, ridden the world’s tallest sand dunes in Namibia, partied with Fidel Castro, and crossed the Sahara by Land Rover (just to name a few!)

Next we were visited by JJ Yosh, Adventure Filmmaker and TV Host of shows on Discovery and TLC. Back in college, JJ discovered his love for nature on his first backpacking trip and quickly saw that exploring our earth was the key to helping the world.

Another lover of travel, we were then joined by Caroline Makepeace of YTravel Blog. Co-creater of the brand with her husband, they’ve been travelling the world nomadically for 22 years, the last 13 of which have been with their two daughters. Since 2010, they’ve been helping travel lovers “unplug from the chaosfollow their bliss, and travel more and create better memories.”

By May, it was time for a chat with the Outdoorsy Diva herself! Lauren Gay is the woman behind the brand, Podcast Host, Consultant, Adventure Coach, and Photographer (just to name a few of her many talents!) to the podcast. As stated on her website, the “Misadventures of an Outdoorsy Diva is an adventure travel blog for women who love outdoor adventure, unique travel experiences, the great outdoors, foodie adventures, theme parks and every other kind of adventure.”

It was a pleasure to then have Martinique Lewis on the show in June! The woman behind the brand, Marty Sandiego, Monique is a woman with many talents and many hats, she is an “award-winning diversity in travel consultant, creative lead for Nomadness Travel Tribe, President of the Black Travel Alliance. Board member to Conde Nast and the National Outdoor Leadership School. And now you can add the creator of The ABC Travel Greenbook! The number one resource connecting travellers to the African Diaspora Globally.”

After that we travelled to Aruba to chat with Hyro Oduber, a local Aruba resident and expert, global travel guide and host of the YouTube channel, Let’s go with Hyro. As Hyro shares on his website, “Travel is also a big passion of mine, so apart from the local videos I also make Travel Vlogs whenever that is possible. When Let’s go with Hyro was established in late 2018 the goal was not to visit every country in the world, but rather, build relationships with locals and have authentic travel experiences.

By August, it was time for a chat with Brian Major, Caribbean expert and Managing Editor for Digital Publications & Guides/Caribbean at TravelPulse. Brian is actually the co-host of the Complete Caribbean podcast with no stranger to our own podcast, Sarah Greaves-Gabbadon, aka JetSetSarah (missed that podcast? Check out our episode with Sarah here).

We then travelled all the way around the world to Tahiti chatting with Tahiti travel expert Carl Henderson. A world-traveller who has certainly seen his fair share of countries around the globe, there is just something about Tahiti that keeps Carl coming back for more! An expert on this region, if you’re considering a vacation to French Polynesia, he is certainly a font of knowledge.

From Tahiti, it was over to Indonesia, to chat with Cruise Director onboard Aliikai, Richard, as he shares some of the fantastic experiences that await when you book a luxury yacht charter onboard with them.

We capped off 2021 with a visit to Costa Rica with Ofer Ketter or Origen Escapes. Located in Costa Rica, Ofer has lived a life both on and under the sea. A lover of diving, travel and conservation, it was great to sit down and chat with him as he shared some fantastic gems in the region.
