ICYMI: Journalist Andrew Parkinson Talks Yachting

I hope your week is off to a great start! Just in case you missed our podcast with journalist Andrew Parkinson earlier this year, I wanted to share a few sound bites with you (and make sure you’ve got the link to listen in for yourself!)

How did you get into yachting?

I got into the industry in 2007, right around the time of the economic downturn and thought that would be a good time to become a broker – not quite! So I thought I’d go back to my journalism roots and an opportunity came up to join Southern Boating in South Florida. I worked as Managing Editor and the rest as they say is history! After a long run at Yachts International, I’m now Editor-in-Chief at PassageMaker magazine – a long time favourite of mine!

You’ve been lucky to take a few charters yourself – what do you think sets this experience apart?

Luxury yacht charter is the best kept secret in  travel! It’s the most personalized vacation you can take. It has all the amenities of a five star hotel, all the indulgences of a Michelin starred restaurant and you can have so many incredible experiences on these charters that you just can’t get anywhere else.

Can you pick just one place you’d like to recommend listeners to add to their bucket lists?

I’ve had the great pleasure of being to plenty of different places but I just keep coming back to the Exumas. The first time I went, I just couldn’t get over that crystal clear water and after being back a few times now, I still can’t get over it!

Thanks again for spending some time with us Andrew! If you missed the podcast, check it out now!
