As we cling to the final days of summer nights, we just had to share this interview with Chef Fotini Pilarinou onboard luxury yacht Manu, based in the Greek isles! Come and daydream with us for a moment....
Can you tell us a bit about your time working onboard yachts?
I have been in the superyacht industry since 2009 and working onboard Manu for the last five. As part of the two person crew, I am a steward and chef, specializing in Greek cuisine (of course!).
Do you have a favourite spot in Greece?
I think that my favourite destination is Zakynthos because it is a beautiful island with excellent, clean beaches, very beautiful sights such as Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach, the Blue and Keri caves, and Turtle Island. Also Zakynthos has a traditional and very lovely town where you can explore and learn the traditions of the island.
My favourite toy has to be the Stand Up Paddle board (SUP). I like trying to balance on the paddle, playing with the small waves and trying to approach beaches or caves - such a soothing activity that allows you to get closer to nature than a boat or jetski.
If you could only choose one thing that makes a superyacht charter so special, what it would be and why?
If I could only choose one thing that makes a superyacht charter so special, I would have to say that it's the hospitality of the crew giving guests the ultimate vacation. I love being able to be a part of that and truly showcase the care and attention they'll receive on a yacht charter.
