This week I got to catch up with the fantastic Chief Stew, Gigi Grant who is making the most of her time at sea with her partner (and colleague), Dylan. Read on for more from Gigi!
You’ve been in the industry for over six years now, how did you first get started?
My partner and I have a few friends who have been in the industry for years, so we decided to give it a try and in March 2015 we got on a plane and found ourselves in a crew house in Antibes, walking the docks. Six years later we’re still in the industry together and even on the same yacht! I’m the Chief Stew and he’s the Bosun.
While in the midst of a busy charter season, how do you remain fresh both mentally and physically?
Once a week on charter in my break I do a quick face mask and listen to some inspiring podcasts, I try fit in a good stretch once a day and I start my morning a little earlier to get in my cup of tea in bed and read a bit of my book or write some notes in my journal instead of waking up 15 minutes before work and rushing into my shift! This has helped me the most!
What do you like to do during your down time at sea?
Yoga! And read, I’m a serious book worm!
Do you have a favourite corner of the globe you like to visit?
I love Asia! I can’t wait to travel more of it 🙂
If you weren’t in yachting, what else would you want to be doing for a living?
I’m big into health and am actually plant based so I’d love to get into plant based nutrition, teach cooking lessons and run a small vegan cafe!
Thanks so much to Gigi for her time! Please check out more of her wonderful adventures on Instagram!
